Day 1

When your mind won't stop

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

It's 2am and your thoughts won't slow down. They loop back on themselves, and sleep won't come. That is not a sign that something is wrong with you. Psalm 34:18 does not say the Lord appears when you have quieted down first. He is near right now, in this exact moment, while everything is still loud. You don't have to compose yourself before he draws close.

A prayer

Lord, my mind is running tonight and I can't make it stop. I am not asking you to fix everything right now. I am asking you to be near, the way this verse says you are. Sit with me in this. Amen.

Day 2

When grief finds you in the night

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Grief doesn't follow a schedule. It finds you in the quiet, in the dark, when everyone else is asleep and there is nothing to distract you from it. Isaiah 41:10 is not a promise that the pain will stop tonight. It is a promise that you are not carrying it alone. He is with you in this moment, not waiting on the other side of it.

A prayer

Father, I am carrying something heavy tonight, and I can't put it down. I don't need it to be gone. I need to know you are here, upholding me the way this verse says. I believe you. Help me rest in that. Amen.

Day 3

When worry has its grip on you

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:34

Jesus said this to people with real problems, not small ones. He did not say tomorrow would be easy, or that your worries are unreasonable. He said to let tomorrow carry its own weight. Tonight you only have tonight. That is a smaller thing to hold, and you can hold it. One night at a time is not a failure. It is the instruction.

A prayer

Lord, I have been carrying tomorrow and the day after that, and it is too much. Help me set it down, just for tonight. You have today, and you will have tomorrow. I trust you with both. Amen.

Day 4

When you feel like you're walking through something dark

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4

The valley in this psalm is not a mistake or a wrong turn. It is the path. What changes inside it is not the difficulty but the company. He is with you. That is not a comfort you have to earn or arrive at through enough faith. You are already in the valley, and he is already there.

A prayer

Lord, I feel alone in what I'm walking through, in a way that is hard to explain. I know the verse says you are with me. I am choosing to believe it, even when I don't feel it yet. Stay close. Amen.

Day 5

When you are tired in the deep way

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

Five days of sitting with these prayers means you have been paying attention to what you are carrying. That matters. This verse is not a reward for the people who have managed their burdens well. It is an invitation for anyone who is tired. The kind of tired that sleep alone doesn't always fix. That is you. That has been you all week.

A prayer

Jesus, I am tired. Not just tonight. I am tired in the deeper way. I come to you with that, and I take you at your word that you will give rest. Hold me here. Amen.

You reached the end. Rest if you can. These pages will be here if you need them again.
