When your prayers feel unanswered

Some prayers go quiet for a long while. We won't explain that away. We'll sit with you in it.

Hands resting over an open prayer journal in soft morning light

You prayed and the silence stretched on. You prayed again and nothing changed. That is one of the harder places to be, and it is honest to say so. It is not a sign of weak faith. It is the experience of many people in Scripture who prayed through exactly that silence.

This prayer doesn't promise an answer tonight. It's for staying in the conversation even when the conversation feels one-sided.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

A prayer for the waiting

Lord, I have been praying about this for a long time and the answer hasn't come yet. I don't understand it, and I'm not going to pretend I do. But this verse says your mercies are new every morning, and I'm asking for that. A mercy for today. I'm still here, still asking. Amen.
