Whatever you've lost, and however long ago you lost it, grief has its own timetable. It can find you in a grocery store, in the middle of a regular afternoon, in the night when there's nothing left to distract you. You're not doing it wrong.
This prayer won't take the grief away. It's for the moment when you need somewhere to bring it.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
A prayer for today
Father, I am carrying something heavy today and it is hard to put down. I don't need the grief to be gone right now. I need to know you are here, upholding me the way this verse says you are. Stay close. Amen.
